Electrical fault
The Control Box appears to be working (I can hear its relay acting) but the motor is not running. What can I check?

CAUTION! Isolate the power supply before cleaning (press the emergency button or disconnect the plug from the tractor). Check that the electrical contacts of the contact plate (between body and frame) are not dirty or oxidised.

  • Check that the electrical contacts of motor and Control Box are not dirty or oxidised. If necessary, clean with a dry cloth and protect with synthetic moisture-repellent grease.Stubborn oxidation may be removed using very fine sandpaper
  • Burnt motor: Replace the motor. To do so, contact Marcolin Technical Support or an authorised service centre.
The motor does not run
I am pressing a button of the radio remote control or turning the manual control selector of the Control Box but the motor is not running. What can I check?
  • Emergency button pressed
  • Incorrect electrical connections, check the electrical connections (positive – negative of the battery)
  • Check the fuses. One is located in line with the power supply, the other is inside the Control Box.
  • Check that the contacts of the motor are firmly connected.
  • Check the condition and continuity of the motor (short circuit, burnt-out or damaged motor).

CHPA
My automatic rear closure (CHPA) is not working properly. What can I do?
  • Check the alignment of the rods: Check that the closing rods on both sides are at the same distance from the fixed section. .
  • Control the tension of the chain: Check the correct tensioning of the chain.

CHPA CHAIN ADJUSTMENT:

  • Adjust the automatic rear closure so that when the tarp is closed – whether manually or electrically – it automatically lowers at the end of its travel.
  • Move out the tarpaulin (manually or electrically depending on the version) and cover the tipper body (fig. 1).
  • Go into the internal space of the tipper body for setting up the chains (two n. 10 open-ended spanner are required);
  • Let the rear closing system manually come down and readjust the chain in order that it is perfectly tightened once the rear closure has come down (fig. 2).
Incorrect operation
Why does the covering close instead of opening when I select "UNCOVERED"?

The polarity of the motor is reversed: Reverse the two wires connecting the contacts 3 and 4 of the Control Box.

CAUTION!  Isolate the Control Box beforehand.

Cable tensioning
How can I adjust the tension of the covering cable?

The method for adjusting the tension of the cable varies depending on the type of covering. Typically, you’ll find:

  • Front tensioning: On both sides of the covering, at the front, you will find an M10 screw. Using a torque wrench, gently tighten this screw to a maximum of 7 Nm.
  • Rear tensioning: The tension in some models is adjusted at the rear. Look for a plate with an M10 screw and, using a torque wrench, tighten it to a maximum of 7 Nm.

Important: If you have difficulty making the adjustment, we recommend you contact our nearest support centre (see question 9)

Covering malfunction
The movement of the covering is jerky. What are the possible causes and solutions?

A jerky operation of the covering may be caused by any of several factors. We suggest you check the following steps.

  • Check the tension of the operating cable: Ensure that the cable is tensioned correctly and shows no structural damage.
  • Inspect the mechanical parts: Check visually for damages to the bows, the raising systems, the pads (the mechanics of the tarpaulin).
  • Check the correct operation of the controls: Test both the manual selector and the remote control. On the remote control, check the conditions of the batteries.
  • Reset the control unit: If you are still having problems, you may need to reset the control unit. Contact our service centre for technical support.
  • Check the sliding power: In some cases, you may need to adjust the sliding power of the cover. Please contact our support centre for a thorough check.
